The rumors were so accurate and consistent (well the sane rumors) that I thought for sure they all had to be wrong. I guess there’s going to be some job openings at Apple.
On one front, Brooks is right. The rumors were dead accurate. On another, he’s wrong. I don’t see this as a fail on Apple’s part, but instead the component manufacturers. As iPhone sales continue to grow, my guess is that production ramp-up needs to happen earlier and earlier with every iteration of the device. It’s most likely impossible to close the lid on leaks coming out of multiple part manufactures, and Apple’s only real mistake was claiming to “double down” on secrecy; mainly because it’s not realistic.
